New Automated Photopass Cameras Installed Around Walt Disney World
We saw the camera box being tested last year but since nothing else was added the belief was that they wouldn’t be used. But this week saw the arrival of the automated Photopass boxes in several Disney World Meet and Greets.
So far we have seen reports of the boxes at Hollywood Studios Launch Bay, Epcot’s Norway Frozen meet and greet, Mickey and Minnie and Tinkerbell at Magic Kingdom.
Our streamer Beth had the chance to see the process first hand, she met Tinkerbell at Magic Kingdom where the real Photopass Cast Member had been replaced by the box, Tink herself counted down 3,2,1 while the box automatically caught the shot. All the pictures captured were posed ones, no candid shots while they were chatting. Character escorts are still on hand if you wish additional shots. After your meet you head over to the scanning device to scan your magicband or ticket to receive your picture using the My Disney Experience app.
Beth met Tinkerbell on 9/18 at around 7pm. At the time of the publication of this article (9/19 10am) the pictures have not yet showed up on her My Disney Experience. As soon as we have them I will update this article to show you how the they turned out.
