Blue Bayou Review:
I’ve eaten at the Blue Bayou four times. Each time I loved going there and I’d be willing to pay more to eat there again. If you don’t know, the Blue Bayou is part of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland. Reservations are highly recommended since it is such a popular restaurant in Disneyland. You can make reservations sixty days before the day you eat there-which is different from Disneyworld reservations in which you can make reservations sixty days from the start of your trip.
Atmosphere: I simply love the atmosphere of this restaurant. You sit at the edge of the water of Pirates of the Caribbean ride. If you are lucky enough to get a table from the edge of the water, you can see passengers get on their boats and the old man on the porch, rocking back and forth. The sounds of the bayou, such as frogs croaking, can be heard in the background. The boats of the ride go by, but you don’t really notice them during your meal. On the other side of the water are trees of the bayou as fireflies dance among them. This is my favorite restaurant for atmosphere.
Regular dining: I’ve gone here twice to get the ‘regular’ dining (more to come about the three course meals). I’ve enjoyed the menu items and getting the steak both times. All meals come with break and a choice of salad or gumbo. The gumbo, at times, has been the best part of the meal. Just thinking about it makes me want to go back!
Special three course meals: So this dining package includes salad or gumbo, and entrée, and dessert. It also comes with special seating for a parade and when it reopens they may bring it back for Fantasmic. I’ve gone twice for this, the first time for Paint the Night and the Second for the Main Street Electrical Parade. Both times I loved it and I’d do this again. I’d love to try this package out for the Fantasmic if they bring it back when it reopens in the summer of 2017. It is $65 a person, but I recommend this as a splurge because of the great meal and special seating you’ll get during a parade. On my last time to the Main Street Parade package I got the gumbo, broiled filet minion, and chocolate mousse in the shape of the turtle float from the Main Street parade.
When you have finished your meal, they bring you a fast pass type slip to use on the marked off area during the parade. For Paint the Night we sat near Carnation Café. During the Main Street Electrical Parade we sat right across from the Main Street train station, which I enjoyed more because there was more room and less foot traffic behind us as people were leaving.
Over all the Blue Bayou has a great atmosphere, nice food, takes place on an iconic restaurant, and gives you special dining opportunities.
