A Look Back at 2019 for the Walt Disney World Resort

We are weeks away from the end of the year and the start of a new decade.

Following Walt Disney’s famous quote “we keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading is down new paths” the entire resort has seen changes and additions, so let’s go down memory lane and see what 2019 brought to the most magical place on Earth.

Transportation:

Disney buses got a facelift with brand new color schemes, character wraps and the addition of charging ports and wi-fi capabilities. The Minnie Van service continues to expand in number of vehicles and transportation options, with the colorful vehicles now being able to pick you up and drop you off at the Orlando International Airport. Probably the biggest addition in transportation was the Disney Skyliner, connecting several resorts and theme parks in a fun and efficient way (despite the accident that occurred at the beginning of operations)

Resorts:

2 additions to popular destinations. First up the opening of Gran Destino tower at Coronado Springs Resort, bringing brand new rooms and many dining options. And most recently the opening of Disney’s DVC Resort, Riviera, bringing the charm of Italian and French glamour to everyday Disney life.

Attractions:

Disney’s Hollywood Studios saw a much needed boost in attractions in the form of Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, perfect place for fans of the Cars franchise. And the most anticipated land expansion; Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge bring a complete experience with new restaurants, shopping and 2 brand new, cutting edge attractions, Millennium Falcon Smuggler’s Run and Star Wars Rise of the Resistance.

2020 will be a year in transition and while we do have things to look forward like the Ratatouille ride at Epcot and Mickey and Minnie Runaway Railway at Hollywood Studios; the entire resort is gearing up for the 50th anniversary celebration in 2021, which has been promised to be spectacular.

Everyone here at Streaming the Magic wish all of our viewers happy holidays and a bright, successful 2020.
