Viral TikTok Video Shows Disney Guest Harassing Gaston
While we’re all looking forward to the prospect of character meet and greets making a return to the Disney parks without the distancing, a new video circulating TikTok gives us all a friendly reminder.
In the TikTok video, the creator has uploaded a clip of a guest who starts out her meet and greet encounter with Gaston in all the wrong ways. The guest can be clearly seen reaching out to touch Gaston’s chest, while laughing and looking off to the side at other onlooking guests. When Gaston, who’s visible shaken, has to get very stern with her to tell her to “leave” and that she’s “done” there, he’s heard having to repeat himself multiple times before the guest eventually concedes.
When a character has to go so far as to ask a guest to leave multiple times, and can be seen very clearly taken aback while still attempting to remain “in character” for future greeters and guests, it can be very frustrating to not be taken seriously. The creator of this TikTok urges guests to remember that while these are characters that are supposed to bring us joy (and great photo ops), they’re still real people too. This includes thinking before you act and taking into consideration that they may not want to be touched without their consent in places that are usually beyond a friendly hug or fist bump. It should also be noted that this warning also extends to offensive and foul language with the characters. It’s also worth mentioning too, extreme cases in the past have resulted in arrests and battery charges to the offending guest.
