Tony Baxter Willing to Come Out of Retirement to Reimagine “Journey Into Imagination With Figment”

One of the most highly desired and discussed re-imaginings on any EPCOT fan’s wish list is a remake of the Journey Into Imagination With Figment attraction. A remake back to the original attraction- to be exact!

When the announcement for the ambitious plans to overhaul EPCOT were made, the popular Future World attraction was not included in the discussion, However. Many fans have been holding their breathe ever since- hoping that a remake might come. Perhaps in a later phase of the EPCOT reimagining.

Unfortunately, with Disney cutting projects in order to maintain budgets for the coming years as the travel industry rebounds from the coronavirus, any additional phases to the EPCOT plans are ages away, if not a decade or more.

Nonetheless, former Imagineer Tony Baxter recently brought up the idea of a Journey Into Imagination With Figment reimagining- and he is even willing to come out of retirement to do it!

While speaking at a TEA@USC event (YouTube video has since deleted), Baxter broached the subject of reimagining Journey Into Imagination With Figment saying, “I just wish we would do the ride over. I would come back out of retirement to do that ride over”.

Of course, Tony Baxter technically has come out of retirement to work on another project – the reimagining of Splash Mountain into a Princess and the Frog-themed attraction. Baxter who had worked on the original attraction, will be a creative advisor on the retheming of Splash Mountain.

While there has been no official announcement from Disney on the reimagining of this beloved attraction, it sure would make a lot of EPCOT fans happy.
