SPACE 220 FINALLY GETS OPENING DATE!

The restaurant we’ve all been waiting to be unveiled, has at last received an opening date…and it’s sooner than we thought!

Just released today, EPCOT’s newest space-themed restaurant will finally open its doors to guests starting 9/20. News broke earlier this morning when Disney Park Blog took to Instagram to confirm the official date so we can put our curiosities to rest. This is a welcomed announcement as guests have been tirelessly guessing at when this restaurant would open for some time after seeing multiple set backs due to Covid-19 closures and delays.

This far-out space themed restaurant will immerse its dining guests in their very own ‘out-of-this-world’ experience starting by being immediately greeted by cast members who will guide them to an elevator through the liftoff as they ascend from Earth. And, as the name suggests, guests will then be transported 220 miles above Earth to dock at the Centauri Space Station where they will then be directed across various scenes aboard the station such as the Grow Zone. Guests may even catch a glimpse at how vegetation is farmed in zero gravity environments and other scenes that make them scratch their heads at just exactly how the imagineers are able to pull off such a tall order with making them truly feel they’ve been transported to outer space. Once guests have completed the journey through the space station they will then be directed to the two tiered dining area with incredible views of the vast open space. Disney’s Executive Chef Marc Kische was tasked with creating the stellar menu which will consist of a two-course prix fix meal for lunch, followed by a three course prix fix meal for dinner. Space 220 will debut next to Mission: SPACE in Future World of EPCOT.

Although we now have a definite opening date for Space 220, it still remains unknown if and when we see reservations for closer to the opening date. However, it’s sure to stand reason that once advanced dining reservations do release for the upcoming months that they will be a hot grab and will not last very long!
