Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster to Close for Lengthy Refurbishment

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is looking ahead to some big changes in 2023.

The thrilling coaster at Hollywood Studios, set to the music of iconic group Aerosmith, is set to close February 20, 2023 for a lengthy refurbishment. As of now the ride is scheduled to reopen sometime during Summer 2023, no specific date being given.

It is being speculated by some, as the idea has been floating around for quite some time, that this refurbishment may also include a retheme of the attraction.

In August 2021, Universal Music Group struck a deal to take control of the Aerosmith catalogue starting in 2022, leaving Disney out of the picture. Many have wondered what would happen to the use of the Aerosmith name, and musical rights, within the ride. Would Disney now be required to retheme the ride? If so, what would the retheming be? Not much has been said about it since the contract ended, and this retheming has us wondering… is this the end of Aerosmith at Hollywood Studios? For now, we will have to wait and see what Disney has in store for its super-stretch limo rides in 2023.

As the refurbishment of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster gets underway in 2023, stay tuned to Streaming the Magic as we learn more.
