Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom to Close Next Month for Refurbishment, Signaling Possible Arrival of Hatbox Ghost
The Haunted Mansion attraction at Magic Kingdom is scheduled to close in August for a refurbishment, according to an alert on My Disney Experience app.

While no definite reason has been given for this closer, Disney had announced previously that the Hatbox Ghost was planned to arrive in 2023. A teaser trailer was released this Spring, with a sneak peek of the Hatbox Ghost in development at Walt Disney World.
The alert on the closure is posted on My Disney Experience app, and reads the following:
From August 7 to August 9, 2023, Haunted Mansion will be closed for routine refurbishment.
The time-line for refurbishment makes sense, with the first date of ‘Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party‘ on August 11. This ensures that the attraction is open in time, with possibly the addition of Hatbox Ghost just in time to make things extra spooky this season.
