Unionized workers are making their voices heard in Kissimmee today, just outside Walt Disney World property. Chanting “Disney workers need a raise”, Cast Members are holding signs describing their struggles to make ends meet on Disney wages. Cast Members are sharing their difficulties in affording healthcare, paying for everyday baby care items, and simply paying rent.
Katie Rice shares that “Disney proposed to raise starting pay by $1/hour per year to reach $20”. Cast Members believe that they need more urgent help now, and that the offer isn’t going to provide enough immediate relief for their wallets.
