We often hear about inappropriate behavior at the Disney Parks, but this is one we didn’t expect. According to an Orange County Sheriff’s report, on February 19, an elderly guest groped a Cast Member at EPCOT during a Goofy meet and greet. While much of the report is heavily redacted, the details that can be seen are unsettling.
Per the report, a family of four were taking photos with Goofy. Three of the family members stood to the right of the costumed Goofy Cast Member, while Grandma stood to the left, with her arm around Goofy. Per the report, “the grandmother then placed her right hand on his ‘butt’ and squeezed her hand three times.” The report continues to state that “during the squeezing the grandmother said, ‘Woo hoo!’”. After the family walked away, the assaulted Cast Member stopped the meet and greet session and alerted his attendant followed by park management.
While no charges have been filed, the photographer who witnessed the incident did give a statement to police. Grandma is described as in her 60s and wearing a black Minnie Mouse shirt that read “Nana Mouse”.
Unfortunately for Cast Members this is just one incident of many in recent years involving inappropriate behavior toward costumed Cast Members. Have you witnessed this type of behavior at the Disney Parks?
