Finding Nemo The Musical Not Returning To Animal Kingdom
It seems the rumors are true, although there’s yet to be an official announcment from Walt Disney World
News broke yesterday several sources were indicating that Finding Nemo The Musical would not be returning. The musical has not been in production since March 2020 just before the pandemic park closures. Guests did figure it would reopen at some point when it didn’t initially reopen with the park however, it seems that patience won’t pay off this time.
Finding Nemo The Musical took place at Theater In The Wild and featured over 10 musical numbers composed by the Anderson-Lopez team (the geniuses behind the Frozen soundtrack). This musical also was a huge hit among those that held it near in dear to their hearts. It was also especially groundbreaking as the musical was born out of a ‘non-musical’ animated film.
Finding Nemo was innovative in its use of large puppets maneuvered by actors on stage that would bring them to life as they performed not only the story but large musical numbers as well.
For now it seems the only confirmation we will be getting on its permanent closure is that from the cast members themselves. Katie Whetsell, one of the performers for Dory, took to Instagram to confirm our growing suspicions. We will be awaiting a return of another musical number in its place and Finding Nemo The Musical will forever be in our hearts.
