Disney World May be the Leading “Frontrunner” To Host NBA Games

The Athletic is reporting that Orlando’s Walt Disney World Resort has emerged as “the clear frontrunner” to host the NBA games this summer, should the league decide to resume the 2019-20 season.

The NBA was the first pro sports league in America to suspend play on March 11, after the Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for the COVID-19.

The league recently announced that teams in states which have lifted stay-at-home orders, could reopen their practice facilities on May 8. This would be under strict saftey guidelines.

The NBA has been considering several locations, such as Las Vegas, but has now entered “serious discussions” with Disney. It does now seems probable that the resort would be the only location.

The Athletic report goes on to say “it remains unclear when the games would begin, but multiple sources say the prospect of players fully training in mid-June and playing by mid-July has been the most popular and possible scenario discussed.”
