Disney World Construction Update 1/22/16 (w/video & photos)
I decided to head to Disney Springs for this weeks update. This area has seen heavy construction for more than a year, with plans of the entire shopping and entertainment district to be ready by the end of this year. I admit that the more I see this project coming to life the more I love the end result. I think it’s going to look beautiful, more open and spacious, with a lot of different things to be offered.
First here is a short video of the main construction areas, I have detailed pictures after the video:
I parked in the multi level garage and got the first couple of shots from this area. The resort bus loop is looking impressive, maybe three times the size of the bus loop now.
Walking into Disney Springs from the Orange parking garage you end up right next to where Planet Hollywood used to be, to your left is AMC Theater, to your right is this.
And the construction walls offer an idea of how the entire area will look like once finished.
On the West Side construction is almost completed, they have added a couple of these roofs with planters and ledges to sit on through out the area. They offer shade and protection from the elements.
Walking into The Landing (old Pleasure Island) the construction gets heavier, walls surround some parts of this area, next restaurant scheduled to open is STK (early 2016) .
And then you get the biggest area, still behind walls, I have to say that it looks impressive and I can not wait for it to be open. Disney Springs Town Center promises to be filled with shops, restaurants and unique experiences.
And a second multi level parking garage is under construction closer to The Marketplace. In the meantime you can still enjoy Disney Springs, even though maybe half of it is under construction the areas that are open are quite nice and worth the visit, here are a couple of nice pictures of the place.
And it cannot be a construction update without heading to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The only new thing to pop up here are the walls surrounding what was Pizza Planet, of course, Disney construction walls have a bit of humor and details that you don’t see anywhere else.
