The Disney Skyliner gondola system has been a popular mode of Walt Disney World transportation since it opened in September 2019. However, similar to pools and other areas of Walt Disney World Resort, Disney has scheduled routine maintenance of the Skyliner system starting in mid-January.
The guests that will be most impacted by this closure are those staying at resorts located on the Skyliner route, which include Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, and nearby resorts on Crescent Lake (Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and the BoardWalk). In addition, this will also impact those looking to access the International Gateway of EPCOT and of course Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The statement from Disney on the closure reads as follows:
From January 16, 2024 through January 21, 2024, Disney Skyliner will be closed for routine maintenance. Disney Skyliner service to and from Disney’s Riviera Resort and International Gateway at EPCOT will remain closed through January 27, 2024. During this time, complimentary bus service will be available.
Although the Skyliner will be non-operational, guests can rest assured that other forms of transportation will continue to be available for their use. The monorail lines, water taxis, and bus system will be running in addition to the use of the Minnie Van service (within the Lyft app, at an additional cost).
