D23 Expo Disney Parks Panel: Epcot News
The section started with a lovely video package.
Bob Chapek started by talking about the power of transformation. Walt Disney said that Epcot would always be in a state of becoming.
World Showcase will remain the same.
New neighborhoods will spring up in Future World: World Nature, Discovery and Celebration.
When you first enter the gates there will be an updated version of the fountain while adding greenery to the surroundings. Spaceship Earth will remain the parks icon.
New magic will come into Spaceship Earth. It will now focus on storytelling. The scenes will remain but will come to life in new ways and new scenes will be added. A new narration with a new guide. You will follow a story light, giving each scene new beauty.
A completely transformed Epcot will give a “dreamers view” and a new statue of Walt Disney will be featured.
Through World Celebration you will find music and dancing, a new pavilion with a park that will offer views of Epcot.
World Discovery: Guardians of the Galaxy attraction will take people from Earth to Xandar. It will feature a reverse launch. The new attraction will be named Guardians of the Galaxy : Cosmic Rewind.
New restaurant: guests will go on an elevator to reach the restaurant space with epic views of the galaxy. The restaurant will be called Space:220 Restaurant, opening this Winter.
Play Pavilion: interactive city with games and activities that will connect you with friends and family. Plenty of characters will be available for meet and greet.Opening in 2021.
Awesome Planet movie opens in the Land pavilion in January 2020.
Journey of Water: A Moana inspired exploration trail to live and play with water. Learning about the water cycle.
China Pavilion: getting a reimagined movie called Wondrous China.
Canada: Far and Wide new movie will debut in 2020.
France: Ratatouille: Remy is coming to the pavilion, it is located entirely in a new area. Opening Summer 2020.
Beauty and the Beast sing along joins the France movie. This opens in 2020.
New restaurant will open also in 2020.
Disney Skyliner is opening September 29th at WDW.
