BREAKING: Josh D’Amaro Hints “Something Will Happen” with Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

As the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser takes its last voyage at the end of September, a recent interview with Josh D’Amaro gives a glimpse into possibly what’s to come for the hotel.

In a new interview with The Points Guy, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Josh D’Amaro hinted that we might see the hotel space reimagined in the future.

D’Amaro spoke about the development process of the Star Wars fan experience, stating that he’s “always pushing” the Imagineers to think outside the box, to take risks, and to not be afraid of trying something that hasn’t been done before. Part of the development process includes pushing into territory Disney fans didn’t think was possible. “Try things that the guests aren’t even asking”, says D’Amaro, “because they don’t know to ask for that”. This thinking lead to the development of the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser experience.

Although risks were taken in the implementation of the immersive Star Wars experience, D’Amaro admits that it had its faults. Learning from the experience, it is important to continue to be innovative and push forward. “It didn’t work commercially. And so, when we realized that, you just make a call and move on” D’Amaro says.

So of course, what happens with the soon-to-be vacant Halcyon? For Star Wars fans, this is the million dollar question, and it seems we may soon have an answer! While D’Amaro says he has “no hints yet” for Star Wars fans, he does say that “something will happen”. This is the most we have heard about the future of the hotel since the closure of the Galactic Starcruiser was announced last month.

What’s to come for the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser space when the final guests check out at the end of September? While we aren’t sure yet, we are confident with these developments from D’Amaro that there is a future in planning stages, and we are excited to hear more.
